I was intending to space things out a little more, but I also wasn't expecting to post the third installment of "The Adventures of the Gray Guardian" yesterday either. I was just so excited about posting it that I skipped doing what I said I would do in the previous update until now.
It's sort of like forgetting to put an extra piece of cheese in a sandwich that you already put together and just putting it on top rather than bothering to lift up the top piece of bread.
Well, anyway, here is an the new, and more sustainable, update tactic I'm adopting. I am a voracious consumer of information that pertains to my interests as a sci-fi and fantasy author, primarily through listening to YouTube videos while I do chores. Sometimes I come across a video that stands out as being particularly thought provoking and contributes to the proverbial fires of my imagination.
This example comes from the fine people at "The Templin Institute" The channel focuses on science fiction and fantasy and makes in-depth videos about a variety of subjects. This particular video has a bit of a long name, "Building Your Interstellar Navy | Ship Types, Naming Conventions, & Fleet Doctrines," and is just what it says.
This was particularly fascinating for me as an author because my first, and currently unpublished, sci-fi novel introduces the some of the first of many interstellar powers within the Sundruntan Galaxy. I have already created unique ship design philosophies for each of them but haven't yet given any thought to the naming conventions that each of the races navies would employ.
The video takes it even further by also breaking down and defining the different combat ship types that may be found in a space navy and compares them with terrestrial counterparts. In all, it is a very informative video and a must watch for anyone who loves sci-fi space travel and/or combat.

Also, if you'd like to read more about the ship design philosophies of the Drifters universe, you can find them on this reading list along with the first chapters of the novel here: https://tddracken.wixsite.com/.../catego.../drifters-origins
