News Flash! NASA has designed a concept for a faster than light ship! And yes, actually they did. Read through to find out more.
Time for another installment of ... Fact and Fiction! Whenever I write science fiction, I always try to include a healthy dose of non-fiction information in order to help ground the narrative. In my novel, "Drifters: Origins," that I mentioned in the last installment about naming conventions and ship types. This takes the form of doing research into some core aspects and technologies of the Corinthian civilization and only including them because they are theoretically possible. Things like Iron Man's repulsor technology, artificial gravity, and more.
Rather than get overly wordy and try ramble off a full list of things, I wanted to focus on one thing that is a hallmark of the science fiction genre, faster than light travel. I had periodically heard about theories about how it could possibly be done in my research, but the one detailed in this video may be the closest one to reality, relatively speaking at least. By relatively speaking, the current theory involves energy that is equal to the mass of Jupiter ... which is progress. Until it was refined, the theory was that it would take all the matter in the universe to achieve warp drive.
You can find out more about the actual theoretically possible warp travel based on the Alcubierre Warp Theory on Joe Scott's channel at: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RguSFaX8wBc
